The summer is definitely here and festivals are back in the diary! Loved all my festival dates this month, Exit Festival in Serbia saw me going B2B with Maceo Plex, then it was on to Kappa in Torino Italy, followed by a quick hop over to the awesome Electro Magnetic festival in Germany, and it was great to meet up with a lot of friends old and new @Ultra in Split. After a few days off it was on to play my first set with Tomorrowlands, then bounced over to Off Sonar in Barcelona, before spinning back round to Tomorrowlands for my final set there. Its great to be back in Europe, the festival scene just gets better and better every year! But July wasn’t just about the festival vibe, I managed to squeeze in 2 Ibiza gigs, one with the Game Over boys @ DC10, which saw me playing 2 sets, early doors on the terrace and then later in the club, then I had my birthday celebration with Resistance @ Privilege on the 30th, More to come with these 2 Ibiza parties. Oh Yes! Oh Yes!
EXIT FESTIVAL, SERBIA
What a way to start the month but with the awesome Exit festival in Serbia, the energy was unbelievable, and the B2B with Maceo Plex was insane…looking forward to more of these!
A cheeky selfie @Kappa festaival, Seat Stage.
Listen to my set here!
RESISTANCE, CROATIA
My stop in Croatia for Resistance at Ultra Europe was really something special.
From the first beat till the last note of Your Love by the Prodigy, the crowd was with me all the way and their energy was fantastic!
There were so many incredible moments- from the amazing production to the friends from around the world that were dancing all night long- it’s parties like these that I’ll remember most. Even had Sebastian Ingrosso come by after he played the mainstage with Swedish House Mafia and get me in for a shot on stage. It seemed like everyone ended their Ultra Europe party on our stage- just how I like it! We may need a bigger tent next year.
I even took a bunch of videos on my phone so if you were there, watch my socials to see if you spot yourself 😉
Check out the full live video here!
ONE NIGHTSTAND, DC10, IBIZA
It was great to be back @DC10 this month with the Guys from 1NS, DC10 has always been a special place for me. It was early doors in the Garden followed by a truly amazing few hours on the Terrace. I’ve always loved the underground vibe that DC10 and the 1NS crew create and the energy that the real techno heads bring to that party!
TOMORROWLANDS
The highlight of July for me has to be meeting the absolute legend Shaquille O’Neal @Tomorrowlands. People think I am the big boss, but on that day I was definitely put in my place!
Was a massive honour to be asked to play both the weekends, 100% for me one of the best festival productions at the moment.
Check out some of the pics from the night
Hanging out with Pan-pot backstage before my set @tomorrowlands
Resistance @Privilege ibiza was the perfect setting for my birthday celebrations this year, there was cake, there was fun and most of all there was techo!
MINI FESTIVAL, BRANDSHATCH
I headed down to a different kind of festival this month…The Mini Festival @Brandshatch, just me, myself and my Mini, was absolutely amazing to watch the races and check out the hundreds of classic Minis there.
As we are celebrating 50 years of the Italian Job this year , I was lucky enough to have my copy of The Self Preservation Society signed by writer Matthew Field and David Salamone, who was not only in the movie but was involved finding the cars that actually appear in the movie, wow!!
MOTORSPORT
The Carl Cox Motorsport Dutch pairing of Kees Endeveld and Jeroen Remme are definitely finding their momentum in their first year competing in the high speed world of the FIM World Sidecar Championships– this talented young duo have seen consistent 6/7th position finishes against the worlds top teams and currently sit 6th in the world championship.
On the other side of the globe as we near the start of the Southern Hemisphere Summer the energy is building for this years Carl Cox Motorsport Cup – this series is the most competitive and cost effective form of “equal platform”racing for youngsters and older riders alike who are all riding the same 250 cc and 400cc machinery. Each year this series delivers exciting race action and a level of support second to none , not to mention having the largest prize pool of any single class of motorcycle racing in NZ! Check out some of the action from Coxy’s onboard video highlights from some of the rising stars in junior motorcycle racing. In Australia, our supported driver in the massive V8 Supercars series has had a few mixed results with a couple of podium finishes already this season in the #MonsterEnergy / #TickfordRacing Ford #Mustang and is still always in the mix with the front runners- the season is really spicing up and we’re excited to be part of this incredible series with 25 year old #CameronWaters at the wheel!
Finally we’re gearing up for one of Carl’s highlight motorcycle events and one of the biggest motorcycle series in the Southern Hemisphere- Suzuki Series, Cemetery Circuit and Carl Cox Motorsport are proud to be able to bring some of the worlds best riders to NZ in December for 3 rounds of incredible motorcycle and sidecar action- Isle of Man stars, British Superbike and European race personalities are lining up to be part of this unique event with Carl, with the penultimate racing on the streets of Whanganui on Boxing day 🙂
Sadly, with such a heavy schedule this month, I’ve not had much time to get in the studio myself, luckily the guys at Awesome Soundwave and Intec have more than made up for that with some incredible music coming out of both my labels this month. I am a huge live music fan, so Mat Playfords “Solar” ticks all the boxes for me!
AWESOME SOUNDWAVE
Really excited about the release of techno wunderkind, Saytek, new single “Back On The Circuit” (Live), first out exclusively on Traxsource with other platforms to follow. He’s been killing it with his releases, and Chris & I are eagerly awaiting the release of his album, which this track is taken from, called “Improvisations”. It’ll be out this August 23rd, and one sure to check out! I’ve been playing a few tracks off the album at recent gigs in Europe, and the crowds have loved them!
Still shining brightly is Mat Playford’s album, “Solar” – if you haven’t checked it out yet, you should, as it truly is an impressive album that really pushes our live artist direction well, hopefully bringing to your attention live artists to put on your radar. Mat’s ‘Kic 8462852’ single with Detroit dons, Octave One, on remix duties is a stormer.
Saytek and Mat Playford will both join me, Chris and a stellar line-up of hand-selected artists for our Awesome Soundwave label upcoming LIVE showcase at ADE this October. We’ve teamed up with Awakenings for one massive night on Oct 17th. Make sure you don’t miss this one!
See more from Awesome Soundwave here!
INTEC
This months releases from Itnec are hitting all the right notes despite being very different musically.
Anfisa Letyagaos is someone whose tracks I’ve been playing for a while, and finally her first release on Intec is here! ‘So Good’ has a nice Old School vibe but with some serious techno punch.
Saeed Younan is no doubt one of Americas most accomplished DJ’s, his eclectic style always keeps a dancefloor on its toes.
This is his third EP for Intec now and they just keep getting better and better.
